Le Dr. Magrew cherche à percer le secret d'André Toulon afin de créer l'homme parfait en transférant l'âme humaine dans les marionnettes. Après la disparition mystérieuse de son précédent assistant, il en recrute un nouveau, particulièrement doué pour sculpter le bois, mais quand des sentiments commencent à se tisser entre ce dernier et sa fille, le Dr. Magrew décide d'agir car il avait d'autres projets....
